Dr Anne Lewis was one of Australia’s most important private collectors and benefactors of art. In 2009 she generously donated major works from her Aboriginal collection to the Moree Cultural Art Foundation (the managing body of BAMM). Dr Lewis was born in Mungindi and raised in Moree. The Lewis gift was the first of many such donations by generous collectors, making BAMM home to one of the finest and most extensive collections of contemporary Aboriginal art in regional New South Wales.
This exhibition showcases highlights of the Lewis collection, including works
by Sally Gabori, Dorothy Napangardi and George Tjungurray.
