Lionel's Place: Lionel Lindsay from the Maitland Regional Art Gallery Collection
Join us for the Opening Night, Fri 7 May from 6pm.
Touring from the Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Lionel’s Place consists of 136 framed art works and features Lionel Lindsay’s finest etchings, wood engravings and watercolours.
Depicting scenes from abroad and closer to home, exotic and domestic animals and birds, these works on paper demonstrate Lindsay’s attention to detail and texture.
Lionel Lindsay was an artist who honed his skills in etching and wood engraving so finely that by 1927 he was hailed as the most internationally successful Australian printmaker of all time.
The works in the exhibition Lionel’s Place cover his artistic practice from 1910 until 1950 and encompass all the themes that Lindsay explored over his career including: landscapes, Australian imagery, portraits of literary personalities, and mythical and domestic gardens.

Exhibition Runs: 7 May - 20 June 2021
